US Handbook 2023

Company Leave Programs Dwellworks expects Associates to give a full day’s effort, as demonstrated by being punctual and demonstrating regular attendance. Associates must exercise full use of skills, training, abilities, and use conscientious care to avoid wasting time, effort, facilities, or materials in performing work. Dwellworks understands that for reasons beyond one’s control, an Associate may occasionally be unable to come to work or be punctual. In such an event, Associates are required to notify their direct Leader as early as possible to ensure alternative arrangements can be made to cover the Associate’s absence. All time away from the office must qualify for one of the leave policies outlined in the Handbook. For non-exempt Associates, hours logged under one of Dwellworks’ paid leave programs will be applied as standard hours and not considered in the calculation of overtime. Paid Time Off (PTO) It is our goal that Associates have the opportunity to achieve a satisfactory work-life balance. All full-time and part time Associates are eligible and encouraged to take paid time off. Associates with a job classification of Intern are not eligible for Paid Time Off (“PTO”). Dwellworks does not distinguish between personal, vacation, or sick days. All days used will be treated as personal days, and they may be used for any legitimate purpose of the Associate, including vacation time, sick time, medical appointments, tardiness, partial workdays, or the like. Requests for PTO must be approved by the Associate’s Leader and submitted through the UKG system at least one (1) week in advance to provide for adequate team coverage. Requests for three (3) or more consecutive days should be submitted at least six (6) weeks in advance. PTO is accrued at the end of each month. New Associates will accrue PTO for the month they were hired if they start prior to the fifteenth (15th) of the month. Associates hired from 2018 until current date accrue PTO at a monthly rate of 13.33 hours. Associates hired in 2017 or prior accrue at a monthly rate of 16.66 hours. Total PTO accrued for the year is available to Associates at the beginning of employment and each calendar year. If an Associate leaves Dwellworks and has used more PTO days than accrued year-to-date, then that Associate may be required to reimburse Dwellworks for borrowed time or have the days deducted from his/her final paycheck. In the event an Associate has accrued PTO days remaining at the time of an Associate’s exit, Dwellworks will reimburse the Associate for any unused PTO days. Under no circumstances are Associates permitted to carry over PTO to the following calendar year or be compensated for unused PTO at the end of a calendar year. PTO accrual during a leave of absence is outlined in the Associate Handbook section outlining each leave of absence. Part-time Associates who work less than forty (40) hours per week on a regular basis will earn PTO on a prorated scale, as described below: Number of Hours Worked x days accrued per year = annual PTO days Associates with flexible work arrangements will accrue and use PTO based on their flexible schedules, and use PTO based on their regular schedules and number of hours scheduled per day. Bereavement Full-time Associates are granted up to five (5) days of bereavement leave with pay in the event of the death of a spouse/partner, child, sibling, or parent. Full-time Associates are granted up to two (2) days of bereavement leave with pay in the event of the death of other family members and family members by marriage. Part-time Associates are eligible for pro-rated bereavement leave based on the number of hours they work per week. For example, if a part-time Associate works five 6-hour workdays, their pro-rated bereavement pay would be 12 hours or 2 of their workdays. All Associates should submit requests for leave under this Policy in writing to their Leader.
