Located about 35 miles north of San Diego, the city of Carlsbad lies along the Pacific Ocean just south of Oceanside in Southern California. Known as “The Village by the Sea,” the city of Carlsbad offers the charm of a European town with the conveniences of a large city. Living in Carlsbad offers residents a suburban feel, with no shortage of restaurants and coffee shops. Many of the restaurant choices are clustered in Carlsbad Village and are close to the ocean. Housing Carlsbad is divided into quadrants that include different types of housing such as cottages, bungalows and mansions overlooking the ocean, and are separated from those areas where resorts and master-planned communities are located. Schooling Carlsbad is served by Carlsbad Unified School District a top- rated public-school District. The district manages two high schools, three middle schools and nine elementary schools. In addition to public schools, the area has international school options such as Carlsbad International School . Activities and Landmarks Carlsbad has also been able to maintain it gorgeous open spaces, and unmatched amenities all with the relaxed feel of a beach community. Located in northwestern San Diego County, Vista is a bustling suburban city packed with cultural opportunities that incorporate its sparkling sunny weather. (It’s no surprise that Vista’s name translates to “view” in Spanish!) With its Mediterranean climate and picturesque water views, Vista affords residents access to year-round outdoor activities. Housing The housing market in Vista has apartment complexes as well as single family homes. Apartments range from 1-3 bedrooms and homes between 2-5 bedrooms. There is a mixture of older and new neighborhoods in the area to supply for every need. Activities and Landmarks Vista is a town that has a tradition of art appreciation with the Moonlight Stage Production and Vista’s Broadway Theater. The best places to learn about the city’s origins and history are the beautifully preserved Rancho Buena Vista Adobe as well as Vista Historical Society’s Museum at Rancho Minerva.
