Annual Events and Highlights There are plenty of events which will take place every year in Vienna. The following is only a selection of the major events: Christkindlmarkt (Christmas Market) The Christmas Market opens each year in mid or late November and is held until Christmas at Vienna’s Rathausplatz. Donauinselfest (Danube Island Festival) This three-day open air festival is held each year in summer on the island in the Danube. It can be enjoyed for free; there is no entrance fee. https://donauinselfest.at Jazz Fest Wien (Vienna Jazz Festival) This Jazz festival is held each summer at various venues such as the Vienna State Opera or the MuseumsQuartier. Osterklang (Vienna Sounds of Easter) This classical music festival, organized by the Theater an der Wien, is traditionally held around Easter time and takes place in various venues in the city. www.osterklang.at Silvesterpfad On New Year’s Eve, Vienna’s inner city hosts many shows, bands and music events at various stages and locations.
