Public Transportation Germany is proud of its public transportation which is swift, efficient and reliable. It is possible to go almost everywhere in the city and the suburbs by bus, tram or if available by underground. BONN: The bus and tram network within the city are run by the SWB – Stadtwerke Bonn (www.swb.bonn.de). The network for travelling into the surrounding areas is operated by the VRS – Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Sieg (www.vrsinfo.de - English version available). A Short Trip Ticket (Kurzstrecke) can be used for 4 stations and is valid for 20 minutes. An individual ticket (Einzelticket) can be used for one route with transfers. It is not valid for returns or excursions. There are other numerous ticket and various pass options available. For travelling into the surrounding areas which are operated by the VRR – Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (www.vrr.de - English version available) only one ticket is needed. A Short Trip Ticket can be used for 3 stations and is valid for 30 minutes after stamping. Apart from individual journey tickets, special offers, e.g. a WelcomeCard (for 24/48/72 hours for 1/2/3 adults and up to two children) can also be obtained. There are other numerous ticket and various pass options available.
