GENERAL PRACTITIONER General Practitioners can advise on non-emergency conditions and refer patients to specialized services if necessary. Whether you move to Luxembourg temporarily or permanently, no registration is necessary. Your Dwellworks representative can help you find a GP nearby, however you may switch from one GP to another at any time. HEALTHCARE COSTS AND REIMBURSEMENT + When visiting a doctor or other health professional, the invoice is paid in full by the insured person. In most cases, visits to a health professional are reimbursed between 80-100% of the amount paid. + Paid invoices (invoice is considered as paid when it is stamped and signed by a doctor, or proof of payment is provided together with the original of the invoice) are sent to the following address: CNS Prestations en Nature Remboursements L-2980 Luxembourg + This service is free of charge and no postal stamp is needed. The first time, when reimbursement request is submitted, it is necessary to attach a certificate from the bank (RIB), which contains information about the account to which reimbursed amount should be transferred. + Invoices with “Payment reminder/Rappel” notice are not accepted by CNS. In case the original of the invoice is missing, contact the doctor/receptionist to get another original invoice. + If the amount of the invoice exceeds 100€ you can go to any of CNS offices where the check is issued to be cashed in any of the Post offices of Luxembourg. + It is not necessary to get a referral from a general practitioner before seeing a medical specialist. You will probably notice that the cost of the same procedure may vary from one specialist to another - this is normal. All doctors have a maximum they can charge if they remain within the limit. + You may want to see a specialist in Germany, Belgium or France, which is possible. However, you will only be reimbursed the amount foreseen by the Luxembourgish social security fund. + The amount reimbursed for medication depends on the type of medication and is between 0- 100%. + Prescriptions are needed for most any type of drug, including items such as allergy medicine. Prescriptions are already heavily subsidized by the government when you purchase them, so you will not need to submit for reimbursement for these.
