Locals often refer to freeways by route number, not by name, and say “De” before the number. All motorways or expressways will start with the letter “A” and will be labeled red. + De A13: Connects the Hague and Rotterdam + De A1: Connects Amsterdam City with the German border + De A2: Connects Amsterdam City with the Belgian border + De A10: The ring road around the city of Amsterdam Roads All non-motorways or expressways will start with the letter “N” and will be labeled yellow.
