Pets Deciding on whether or not to bring your family pet on international assignment is a personal decision. Before making your decision, consider the following: + How long will your stay be in the U.K.? + Will having your pet with you help your family adjust to the new life? + If you do not bring your pet, will you worry about your pet the entire time you are away? Regulations You can bring your pet cat, dog or ferret into Great Britain (different rules may apply for Northern Ireland) if it has been microchipped, has a pet passport or health certificate and has been vaccinated against rabies. Dogs should also usually have a tapeworm treatment. If the above rules are not followed, your pet could be put in quarantine for up to 4 months.
