CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR INTERNSHIPWITH ADOBE! We are so excited you will be joining us soon. Toronto is the largest city in Canada and the country’s international, cosmopolitan, multi-cultural, financial and entertainment centre. Toronto is a great city for any sports fan and is home to five major league professional sports teams in hockey, baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and lacrosse. There are numerous parks and areas to view including its popular High Park, the largest green space in Toronto. If you love the theatre or museums, then Toronto is also the city for you with several performance theatre companies such as the National Ballet of Canada, the Canadian Opera Company, and the Royal Ontario Museum. Toronto’s diversity is perhaps its most important quality because no matter your ethnicity, favourite sport, or occupation you will find a home in Toronto. With a wide variety of cultures, Toronto offers many opportunities for residents to connect and experience a truly global city. We have compiled some information together for you to help get you oriented with your internship location. We wish you luck in your housing search! WHAT TOKNOWABOUT RENTING IN TORONTO Availability for both apartments and single-family homes remains limited. Nicer homes may receive multiple offers, so landlords and property management companies can be very selective. Due to limited availability in certain areas, monthly rental prices have increased particularly for executive single-family homes. As a result, properties may end up renting above list price due to multiple offers and bidding wars. The properties located in condominium accommodations usually have to allocate $300-$400 monthly budget depending on the parking spaces required.

SETTLE
TOP 5 LEASING TIPS 1. In a competitive rental market, bring a completed rental application, including all necessary documentation and a check for security deposit when visiting the property. 2. Ask if the landlord offers any favorable terms for your employer. 3. Come prepared with enough funds to pay for the first month of rent, plus the deposit amount. Deposit requirements vary but can be equal to one month’s rent (or more). 4. Be extra diligent when reviewing the lease from a private landlord. Unlike large apartment complexes, which generally have well established agreements, private landlords may be less experienced and may include unfavorable or unrealistic clauses. 5. Ask a family member, friend, or colleague to come along with you on the move-in inspection to have an extra set of eyes.
